Those are all very different cars. Stock form the STI is the fastest but could get you in trouble if you are not used to such a car. Same with the Pontiac. It’s not as fast but very torquy and being RWD it can be a handful to handle. I guess it depends on your driving experience and what you are looking for in the car. My dad had a Civic SI and we loved the thing. For me it would be between the STI and the Civic. the Civic will cost less than half the price so that could way on your decision plus insurance on the STI will be very high.

It really depends on what you want from the car..Both the Civic Si and the Impreza offer good performance in a small package, though only the STi offers AWD and over 300 HP standard.. the drawback is low to mid 20s in the mpg range, where the civic will be likely high 20s to low 30s average..The STi however will run circles around the Civic in braking and handling, plus the AWD offers excellent fourth season capability, when equipped with the right tires.. putting all that power down in adverse conditions requires some highly specialized sneakers…The GTO by comparison is a gas guzzling, summer only (RWD) beast, only suitable if you have deep pockets (to pay for all that premium it sucks down), and live where the weather is always dry and sunny…..

      Depends.

Age? Under 25 and the STI would lead to high cost of insurace. The STI’s AWD would help in bad weather however not neccesary.

What do you want out of the car?

Is it for street driving or the track?

I would get the Honda Civic SI because I’m not a speed freak and I don’t see the point of getting something fast when there’s still speed limit. My reason is if others can get to their intended destination and I can too, why not? The MPG is a plus as well.

      =D

I’d get a integra gsr and pop turbo on it push it to 11-12 PSI and rag on STi’s all day.

Integra GSR: Super Fast, Great On Gas, Pimpin’ On That Ass !

      STi-Killah!!

I’d go honda/acura all day any day just because of how tunable they are and how cheap they are to get unbelievable results.

As a first car, the Civic Si. I’d been driving for six years before getting a STI (1999 V6 Cougar before that,) and after having the STI for two years, it still can still surprise me sometimes. The turbo lag is not something a relatively inexperienced driver is going to be well prepared to deal with, and it is not a very forgiving car to drive. The GTO will have similar issues with power (though more predictable,) plus it feels like an overpowered family car to drive – not nimble like the STI or, I suspect, the Civic. Civic Si will do fine as a first car without too much additional risk.
