Civic Puts the Magic Back Into Web3 With Simplified Login, Called Civic Auth
Developers May Offer a Richer UX for Web3 Users With Civic’s Customer Identity Access Management
Today, Civic, the leader in tokenized identity, announced a simplified method for developers to onboard both first-time and existing Web3 users. Called Civic Auth, the single sign-on solution can be used with existing or provided embedded wallets, creating familiar experiences for everyone from Web3 novices to experts.
With Civic Auth, users will be able to connect either their existing wallets or simply enter their email, passkey or Google account. When someone does not bring their own wallet to Civic Auth, a new wallet will be automatically created on their behalf. This intuitive experience cuts down on friction and offers an easier way for developers to onboard people who are new to Web3. By leveraging abstracted wallets, more people can access the benefits of blockchain without the burden of having to store their own keys.
“By introducing Civic Auth, we’re enabling developers to meet people where they are in their Web3 journey. Now applications can serve their users with a flexible identity platform that will allow them to zip around the ecosystem,” said JP Bedoya, Civic’s chief product officer.
Civic Auth is a gateway to Civic’s customer identity and authentication management system. Once a user’s wallet is connected, Civic can verify their personhood and government ID so that the information may be used as Sybil attack prevention or compliance inputs for AML. Developers may also benefit from privacy preserving on-chain gating. Credential proofs in smart contract execution may be used for added security. Finally, builders can easily re-verify that person’s identity at login; users that do not pass identity checks are denied access to services.
Protecting communities from cheating, fraud and spam has been a challenging endeavor with new attack vectors introduced everyday. That’s why Civic’s identity solutions leverage tokenized identity to protect an applications’ environment. This powerful identity and access management toolkit gates, guards and protects communities in more than one way, all without needing to integrate multiple vendors.
Civic has served as a trusted advisor for many startups and has issued more than 925,000 Civic Passes.
