Civic Milestones & Updates: Q1 2025
This quarter, we issued our 1 millionth Civic Pass and upgraded Civic Auth to help developers build trusted, scalable login flows in minutes.
Looking back
This quarter, we officially surpassed 1 million Civic Passes issued! For us, this isn’t just a number. Every pass issued represents a developer building with trust and access in mind. We’re proud to create identity tools that help devs protect their apps, streamline onboarding, and ship with scalable, permissioned access from day one.
Q1 was all about momentum. More integrations, more dev support, and more people using Civic to power trusted interactions online. Here’s a look at what we shipped, where we showed up, and who we teamed up with over the past few months:
We designed Civic Auth to be your favorite SSO solution
Civic Auth is everything an auth solution should be: sleek, fast to set up, and seamless for users. With support for embedded wallets on Ethereum and Solana, users can log in without external wallets or seed phrases. Plus, sign-in options like Google, X, Github, Facebook, and Discord offer even more flexibility. A drag-and-drop editor lets you easily reflect your brand and customize the flow, and setup takes just 5 minutes.
We went multi-chain in a big way
Civic went live on Unichain, Sonic, and Internet Computer (ICP)! Each of these chains brings something special to the table - Unichain is purpose built for DeFi, Sonic delivers blazing speed, and ICP is powering the next generation of decentralized apps. With Civic support across all three, developers can now easily bring verified, permissioned access to their apps while leveraging Civic Passes already issued on any other chain.
We expanded our reach
We’re now part of the Gelato Rollups-as-a-Service marketplace, giving developers one-click access to our privacy-first identity tools as they build scalable rollups.
We also teamed up with Mautix, a simulator game for 3D digital art galleries. By enabling verified user access, we’re helping create safer, more trustworthy experiences for digital artists and collectors—proving that identity plays a critical role not just in DeFi and infra, but in creative spaces as well.
We kept builders busy
Our Christmas bounty campaign with Hackenproof brought a little festive spirit to bug bounty season, while our partnership with AllDomains helped Civic Uniqueness Pass holders claim free .solana domains.
One of our biggest priorities is supporting the next generation of developers—and in Q1, we showed up in a big way. In addition to hosting Office Hours with Dan & Titus to connect directly with builders, we offered meaningful sponsorships at both virtual and IRL hackathons:
- COHACK by Solana Romania, where developers gathered to build next-gen tools and protocols. We were thrilled to support real innovation on the ground and connect directly with new builders.
- The Helius [REDACTED] Hackathon, which is centered on on-chain forensics, security, data transparency, and real-time monitoring.
We talked - and listened
The conversations around identity and access are only getting louder, and we showed up with plenty to say. Our team joined podcasts like Just Shilling with Trevor Tally, and joined X Spaces with leaders at MonkeDAO and AllDomains.
On our own Identity Unleashed podcast, we explored big topics with brilliant guests: Adrian Brink from Anoma discussed intent-centric blockchains, Nikita Varabei from ChainPatrol broke down major security threats, Christophe Olivier from Gelato unpacked Rollups-as-a-Service, and Jessie Santiago and Dmitriy Ryajov shared how Codex is rethinking storage for a Web3 world.
We circled the globe
Between ETHDenver, Consensus Hong Kong, Solana APEX in Cape Town, ETHSF, and the Digital Identity unConference Europe in Zurich, we made sure Civic had boots on the ground wherever identity was part of the conversation. Along the way, we reconnected with longtime collaborators, met some incredible new builders, and soaked in the energy of these fast-moving communities.
We led the conversation
We contributed meaningfully to the broader conversation around authentication. We published the Civic Auth Insights Report, sharing forward-looking perspectives on where wallet-based authentication is heading - and how the industry can better support users through improved onboarding and user experience. Our work caught the attention of outlets like Biometric Update, which highlighted our research around the complexities of wallet-based auth and its impact on adoption.
Meanwhile, in our piece for IDTechWire, we shared how decentralized infrastructure can support the goals of next-generation digital ID frameworks such as eIDAS and EUDI, especially around privacy, interoperability, and user control.
Looking ahead
The momentum from Q1 sets us up for a strong rest of the year. We’re staying focused on pushing digital identity forward, growing with our community, and teaming up with builders who are shaping what’s next. Let’s go Q2, we’re ready for you!
