As we close out 2024, we’re thrilled to reflect on the strides we’ve made at Civic. This quarter has been all about pushing identity forward and staying aligned with the broader trends shaping the industry.

The rise of AI-generated content and deepfakes has sparked growing concerns about online identity and authenticity. In response, we’ve seen increased adoption of tools that emphasize proof of personhood and privacy-first solutions—areas where Civic continues to lead.

Streamlining User Onboarding with Civic Auth

In November we announced Civic Auth, a simplified method for developers to onboard both first-time and existing Web3 users. The single sign-on solution can be used with existing or provided embedded wallets, creating familiar experiences for everyone from degens to Web3 novices to Web2 users. It’s an exciting step forward, making Web3 more accessible without sacrificing security or privacy.

Civic Auth was featured in outlets including Biometric Update, Cointrust, and Metaverse Post, showcasing how Civic is simplifying Web3 onboarding and advancing privacy-first identity solutions.

Furthermore, Cointelegraph featured our perspective on AI threats and blockchain solutions, while Tekedia highlighted our take on identity and tokenized assets.

Developer & Community Engagement

During the fourth quarter we stayed closely connected with the community through multiple events and conversations. Notably, we supported the Solana Super Game Jam, a gaming-focused hackathon with several weeks of workshops and $50k in prizes! Just one way for Civic to inspire the next generation of builders.

Our X Spaces with Honeycomb Protocol and Superteam Vietnam featured a discussion on Solana Super Game Jam and gave us the opportunity to spotlight the deserving winners. We joined Hacken for another X Spaces to discuss building on BASE. Our Civic Office Hours on Discord gave developers direct access to our team to discuss product updates and implementation tips.

Having the Civic team at Devcon in Bangkok was a highlight of Q4. The team brought their excitement and expertise to Southeast Asia, networking with developers in the Ethereum ecosystem. We also found time to share insights at Solana Consumer Day on building Web3 games and provided expertise at a Filecoin panel on how marketing & comms can power a successful GTM strategy. On top of this, we created space for meaningful conversations about identity and security at a mixer for developers in collaboration with our friends at HackenProof and Layer3.

We returned from Bangkok just in time to give our Civic Docs a complete overhaul. Built by devs, for devs, we put the developer experience front and center, focusing on wayfinding to help you get to where you need to go. Whether you’re looking to get started with Civic Pass or Civic Auth, we invite you to take a look and tell us what you think.

Partner Spotlights

We also showcased several of our valued partners through case studies, podcasts, and announcements. We’re always excited to highlight our friends in the ecosystem:

Honeyland, a play-and-own strategy game, leveled up its in-game economy by integrating Civic’s Uniqueness Pass to verify real players and prevent abuse. This integration highlighted how identity verification can help games build fairer and safer ecosystems.

Meanwhile, Civic Passes stand out among Passport XYZ’s verification signals as the only biometric-based option in the passport. We've partnered over the years to identify real users and keep bots at bay.

Paydece, a decentralized P2P platform, incorporated Civic to enable users to buy and sell stablecoins with fiat currencies directly through self-custodial wallets, further boosting trust in their marketplace.

You can still catch our recent podcast with Rentality to learn how they're revolutionizing rental experiences with seamless identity verification.

And, don’t miss this great podcast with Honeycomb Protocol on the role of identity in Web3 gaming.

Looking Ahead

2024 has been a year of progress for Civic — from supporting hackathons to meeting new faces at ecosystem events worldwide, we've advanced our mission to enable privacy-preserving identity through Civic Pass and Civic Auth. Thanks for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to share what’s next!
