Mautix isn’t just another virtual gallery—it’s a fully immersive, high-fidelity 3D exhibition space designed to give artists, collectors, and visitors a richer, more interactive way to engage with digital art. In this exclusive Q&A, we dive into the vision behind Mautix and highlight its unique features.

What is your background? What inspired you to create a 3D virtual art gallery simulator like Mautix?

As a visual development artist and someone deeply passionate about art, I’ ve always believed that hosting a personal exhibition is an important milestone for any artist. However, for most digital artists, this remains a challenge due to high costs and entry barriers.

I explored various platforms, but they often felt lacking—merely placing 2D images in a 3D environment doesn’ t truly create an immersive experience. If the experience doesn’ t go beyond a simple digital frame, it might as well be viewed as a standard 2D image.

That's why I decided to build Mautix using Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), a powerful engine that provides exceptional real-time rendering. UE5 allows us to create a visually stunning and deeply immersive environment that traditional web-based platforms cannot achieve.

What makes Mautix different from other digital art platforms or galleries?

Several factors set Mautix apart:

Uncompromised visual quality & immersion. Many platforms sacrifice rendering quality for accessibility (e.g., browser-based galleries) , while some high-end virtual exhibitions ( such as custom-built museum experiences) lack real-time updates, community engagement, and interactivity. Mautix, on the other hand, maximizes rendering quality without compromise and ensures a dynamic and social experience.

Multiplayer & social interaction. Unlike most digital galleries, Mautix is not a solo experience—users can explore exhibitions together. Art isn’ t just about viewing; it’ s about sharing, discussing, and experiencing together. That’ s why I invested significant effort into multiplayer features.

Customizable exhibition spaces. Users can curate their own gallery layouts, adjust lighting, weather, and decorations, making each exhibition a personalized experience rather than just a static display.

Intellectual property & file protection. Many artists are concerned about unauthorized downloads. Mautix encrypts and protects original artwork files, ensuring they cannot be easily extracted without permission.

Seamless & optional NFT integration. Unlike conventional NFT marketplaces, Mautix integrates NFTs in an intuitive, optional, and exhibition-oriented way. NFTs in Mautix are not mandatory, but they serve as the only way to legally display other artists' works within a personal gallery, simulating real-world art ownership.

How do users interact with the art in Mautix? Can they purchase, trade, or display NFTs?

Yes! In Mautix, users can interact with NFT artworks just as they would with objects in a game. To buy, sell, or showcase NFTs, users need a Civic Pass-verified Ethereum wallet. These wallets are encrypted and locally stored, ensuring security. Unlike conventional marketplaces, Mautix does not have a built-in NFT marketplace—users can only interact with artworks displayed within galleries. This design mirrors the real-world gallery experience, where transactions are initiated based on curated exhibitions rather than an open marketplace. This approach maintains the artistic integrity of the platform and ensures that Mautix is gallery-first, not commerce-first.

What type of artists would benefit the most from using Mautix?

Mautix is built for all types of artists, but digital artists will find it the easiest to adopt seamlessly. However, traditional artists can also benefit significantly, especially those who digitize their works through high-resolution scanning or 3D photogrammetry. When properly optimized, traditional artworks in Mautix closely mimic real-world exhibitions, allowing visitors to appreciate them at full scale and even observe brushstroke details up close. In the future, we will introduce 3D object support, making Mautix a valuable space for 3D artists and sculptors as well.

How does Civic Pass verification work within Mautix, and why is identity verification so important for your platform?

Civic Pass verification plays a crucial role in protecting users and ensuring a safe ecosystem.

Security & stability. It prevents fraudulent activity and malicious bot attacks, ensuring a stable and fair environment.

Compliance & future-proofing. As digital art spaces evolve, regulatory compliance is becoming increasingly important. Mautix prioritizes ethical and legal considerations to ensure that it is not misused for unintended purposes. By requiring Civic Pass verification for NFT interactions, we ensure that Mautix remains a trustworthy and artist-friendly space.

What trends are you seeing in the digital art world, and how is Mautix helping to shape these trends?

One major trend is the increasing demand for immersive digital art experiences:

3D galleries & virtual exhibitions are gaining traction. Artists and collectors are looking for more engaging ways to showcase their work beyond 2D marketplaces.

NFTs are evolving beyond financial speculation. Early NFT hype was driven by trading, but now artists want meaningful ways to display and engage with their digital assets. Mautix supports this shift by emphasizing curation, storytelling, and exhibition culture rather than just sales.

Art communities are prioritizing ownership & security. Mautix provides secure file protection and blockchain-based ownership verification, giving artists and collectors greater confidence in the digital art space.

What new features and updates do you have in the works?

We are continuously enhancing Mautix to offer a richer and more interactive experience. Some of our latest updates include:

Drone mode & advanced photography features. Users can now freely navigate exhibitions with drones and take high-quality in-game photographs, just like in a real art gallery. Since Mautix encrypts source files, this feature offers a way for users to document exhibitions without compromising artwork security.

New exhibition spaces & environments. We are expanding the variety of galleries, allowing for different artistic styles and exhibition atmospheres.

More decoration & customization options. We will introduce new frames, furniture, and environmental effects, giving users even greater control over their exhibition spaces.

3D artwork support. In the near future, Mautix will support 3D sculptures and digital installations, making it an even more versatile platform for artists across different mediums.
